Dr. Talati is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurobiology in Psychiatry at Columbia University and New York State Psychiatric Institute, and an Investigator at the Sackler Institute for Developmental Psychobiology. A neuroscientist and psychiatric epidemiologist by training, his interests lie in following long term neurobiological, behavioral, and clinical outcomes in offspring prenatally exposed (via maternal use) to medications (e.g., antidepressants) and various substances (tobacco, illicit drugs).
In 2010, Dr. Talati received a 5-year career development award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to study developmental and behavioral outcomes resulting from prenatal nicotine exposure. He has also received research funding from the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, and awards from the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP), the International Society for Psychiatric Genetics, and the Organization for Human Brain Mapping. In 2011 he was elected an Associate Member of the ACNP.l Psychiatry (SOBP) and an Associate Member of the American College for Neuropsychopharmacology.
