Dr. Brucato's clinical and research focus is on the assessment and characterization of the prodromal or attenuated phase of emergent psychotic illness, including Schizophrenia and psychotic affective disorders. As the Assistant Director of COPE, one of a small number of worldwide research clinics dedicated to the evaluation, treatment and study of the psychosis risk state, he oversees all clinical and neurocognitive assessments as part of numerous research projects, contributes to the literature on attenuated psychosis, and is widely consulted by professionals, families and individuals throughout the country.
Additionally, he oversees community outreach, conducting workshops, talks and and grand rounds on the psychosis risk state at academic centers, clinics and hospitals across the tri-state area, and trains all students and volunteers at COPE in the assessment of attenuated and threshold psychosis, as well as differential diagnosis.
