Ilene M. Reeman, MD
Assistant Clinical Professor
Ilene M. Reeman M.D. is an assistant professor of psychiatry at Columbia University. She has worked as Assistant Unit Chief on both the General Clinical Research Unit and the Schizophrenia Research Unit at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. In these capacities Dr. Reeman has participated in the administration and management of the inpatient setting, as well as clinical care of patients and teaching psychiatric residents and medical students.
Dr. Reeman earned her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts, at Amherst in 1983. She received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey New Jersey Medical School, Newark, New Jersey in 1987. She trained in a four year residency program in Adult Psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York, where she subsequently completed a two year fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Reeman has worked extensively in the field of eating disorders. She has worked as the Assistant Unit Chief of the inpatient eating disorders unit at Cornell, Westchester Division with Dr. Katherine Halmi. She has worked directly on the clinical aspects of eating disorders research patient care at the New York State Psychiatric Institute with Dr. Timothy Walsh. She has worked extensively in the area of adolescent onset eating disorders, having participated in a pilot study for family therapy in the treatment of adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa, in the Outpatient Eating Disorders Research Clinic at the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
