Jennifer Yumi Minami, MD
Instructor in Psychiatry at CUMC
Dr. Minami understands how challenging it can be to find help for yourself or your child. She believes that effective treatment begins with a strong therapeutic connection in which people feel comfortable, respected, and validated. When meeting with her, she makes it her goal to listen to your concerns and use your feedback to develop a treatment plan that is clear, understandable, and customized to you.
Treatment can include psychotherapy and/or medications. In situations where medications are needed, Dr. Minami will provide her recommendations and guidance for your condition.
Dr. Minami earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and subsequently completed general psychiatry residency at Hofstra North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Following residency training, Dr. Minami completed her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the combined program of Columbia and Cornell Universities, where she was also elected as a Chief Resident.
Dr. Minami currently works at the Pediatric Psychiatry Clinic at New York-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. In addition to providing clinical care to children, adolescents, and their families in the clinic, Dr. Minami supervises comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and the initial phases of treatment for new patients.
