Overview

Maciel Campos, PsyD, is a senior clinical psychologist and program director of the Home-Based Crisis Intervention (HBCI) program of the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian. As program director of the HBCI program, Dr. Campos strives to increase access to high-quality care for children, adolescents, and their families in upper Manhattan through delivering evidence-based treatments in their homes and community. Also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center, Dr. Campos has developed an experiential rotation in which she supervises child psychiatry fellows and child psychology interns in the delivery of evidence-based treatments in the home setting from a systems and cultural-humility perspective.

Dr. Campos has broad experience and interests and works with a diverse range of ages and psychiatric conditions. Her specializations include children, adolescents, young adults, disruptive behaviors disorders and parent training, crisis management, suicidal behaviors, and the management of chronic medical illnesses. Dr. Campos practices evidence-based treatment with a focus on dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and parent-management training. Dr. Campos identifies as bicultural and is fluent in Spanish, regularly providing treatment in Spanish to bilingual families and incorporating a cultural perspective to understanding communities and their functioning.

Dr. Campos received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Adler University in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her predoctoral internship in the child and adolescent psychology track at Columbia University Medical Center and subsequently continued developing her clinical training at the Special Needs Clinic within the Pediatric Psychiatry Department at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian.
