Melina Sevlever, PhD

Melina Sevlever, PhD, is a clinical psychologist in the outpatient department of the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian and an instructor in clinical psychology in the division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Sevlever specializes in the evaluation and treatment of a range of anxiety and mood disorders in children and adolescents. Dr. Sevlever has received extensive training and is skilled in evidence-based interventions such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal psychotherapy for adolescents (IPT-A), parent and child interaction therapy (PCIT), exposure and response prevention (ExRP) and habit reversal training (HRT).
Dr. Sevlever received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Auburn University where she specialized in the evaluation and treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. She completed her pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at New York Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) where she provided individual, group, and family outpatient therapy to children and adolescents in the Pediatric Psychiatry Department of Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. At CUMC, she worked within the Children's Anxiety and Depression Clinic and the Tics Tourette’s and Related Disorders Clinic where she received intensive clinical training in cognitive behavioral interventions for children and adolescents with diverse anxiety and mood disorders. Dr. Sevlever also completed a rotation in the Special Needs Clinic where she provided evidenced based services to adolescents and adults infected with and affected by HIV.
Dr. Sevlever is committed to continuing to provide the highest quality of clinical care to children, adolescents, and their families as a member of the clinical team within the Pediatric Psychiatry Department of Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. She is also devoted to training new clinicians in evidence-based treatments and contributing in meaningful ways to the clinical training program at CUMC.
