Nery A. Diaz, DO

Dr. Diaz immigrated from Cuba with her family in 1972. After a successful career in business and financial planning, she earned her Osteopathic medical degree in 2013. Dr. Diaz then spent four years in psychiatric residency training at the University of New Mexico before completing her fellowship training in geriatric psychiatry at Yale University, where she worked in the areas of trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and memory disorders with patients that poorly responded to conventional treatments. After a year as a supervising psychiatrist in a Veterans Administration Hospital, Dr. Diaz is proud to join the faculty and staff at Columbia University-Presbyterian Hospital.
In her clinical work, Dr. Diaz specializes in the psychopharmacology of treatment-resistant mood disorders and anxiety disorders. She is especially interested in the integration of evidence based treatments in addressing complex symptoms where late-life illness, life goals, and family dynamics interact.
Areas of Interest include Interphase of medical, neurological and psychiatric illness, mood and anxiety disorders, and psychopharmocology as well as short term therapies for family members and caregivers.
