Zachary K. Blumkin, PsyD
Assistant Clinical Professor of Medical Psychology (in Psychiatry)
Dr. Blumkin is a staff psychologist in the outpatient department of Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian and an instructor in clinical psychology in the division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Blumkin received his B.A. from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado with a major in psychology. He received his doctorate from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology with specializations in Health Psychology and Latino Mental Health. During his graduate school training, Dr. Blumkin held clinical positions at Children's Hospital Boston and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, both of which are affiliated with Harvard Medical School. He has additional experience working in residential treatment facilities, community mental health centers, and with the administration and interpretation of psychological assessments. Dr. Blumkin has also participated in volunteer clinical positions in Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Guatemala.
Dr. Blumkin completed his clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. He has expertise working with disruptive behavior disorders, anxiety disorders and severe emotion dysregulation. Dr. Blumkin specializes in working with children, adolescents, young adults and families as well as working with those affected by chronic illness and/or medical issues. He is trained in, and teaches to psychology trainees and psychiatry fellows numerous evidenced based treatments including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Dr. Blumkin also works with medical students and lawyers in the Columbia P&S Asylum Clinic and Columbia P&S Human Rights Initiative.
